After all the research done, I have gathered information that the impact of terrorism on world economy is not so huge. Yes. There is economic disruption which affects the major industrial countries but it is only for a while. Money was used for damage of infrastructures due to terrorist attacks. In reference to the IMF working paper, I realised that it didn't took long for the US economy to get back to normal after the September 11 attack.
And also, the September 11 attacks affected the major industrial countries through a fall in demand due to loss of confidence. Such major industrial countries could be countries like the UK, Japan or France.
I participated in a discussion forum and posted my research topic as one of the topics. There were 2 people who replied. 1 of them also said the economic disruption was only for awhile and that there was economic growth that brought the US economy back to normal. The other 1 just agreed with what i said.

Shitttt..
My CSAS presentation is in like 13 hours time.
I'm not prepared to talk in front of an audience in a lecture theatre.
I can't even remember what I'm supposed to say in that 5-8 mins period of humiliation.
And ya..
I can't believe i'm gonna dress up formally and go to school looking like some business student.
I've never worn anything formal.
Heck! I didn't even have prom night. *Pathetic*- All thanks to my wonderful secondary school prinicpal. ~ Screw that moron.
The others feel the same way.
Unprepared.
Nervous.
Just can't wait to get it over with.
Damned! this suxXx!
Anyways, Screw this... I'm gonna enjoy the loneliness and peacefulness of watching tv at this hour.

I have learnt quite alot of things in the past UIR lessons such as the evaluating criteria, databases and many more.
The Most Important Lesson that i have learnt in developing my UIR portfolio is the lesson on the different type of search engines and how to minimize or maximise searches. If i want to minimize my search, I should search for something "and" something. And if i want to narrow down my search i should search for something "not" something. I have learnt that there are not only search engines, but there are meta-search engines such as ixquick.com and subject directories such as yahoo.com. I have also learnt that searching for information on the internet can sometimes result in unwanted junk information. I have learnt how to minimize my searches so that i get what i want to find specifically. This way i don't need to waste time on searching over and over again.

I had to evaluate another website for practical 8. This time, the website was given, http://www.si.edu/. The aim of this website is generally for educational purposes. After evaluating this website, I realise its not just an ordinary educational website. It is like a database consisting of many websites. There are links on this website such as Research for science and Exhibitions for the Arts and history. To gather information about any of this topics, you will be redirected to other websites where the information is orignally from. The good thing about this website which i evaluated, is that, there is no log-in required and u can search for what u want to know about, and you'll get redirected to other websites. There is also a search facility to help you find what you want. There is also an index in that website to simplify the search. This way you can browse from website A-Z.

In Practical 7, I evaluated 3 other websites from my bibliography. Which is by using the same template as in practical 6. After the Evaluation of the 3 websites, I realised they were almost quite identical. All 3 provided good and accurate information. And all 3 websites were convenient in terms of No log-ins required and all information could be accessed for free. Plus, all 3 websites has a search facility to help people search for what they want.
One particular website (http://ideas.repec.org) was like a "volunteer" type of thing. People from various universities research on the varous economic issues and write a report or working paper about it. The Working papers from all 3 websites are all well-organised and presented. And all 3 are purely factual based. No opinions were involved. Plus, References were included accordingly.
The other 2 websites are websites that provide information. www.irmi.com provides information on economic issues as well as http://www.oecd.org which is as organizational website. Both this websites provide accurate information about my research topic. My evaluation on www.irmi.com was on its article of The effect of terrorism on Foreign Direct Investment. Whereas my evaluation on www.oecd.org was on its Working paper, The economic consequences of terrorism. Both articles provided information that was well presented and organized.

In practical 6a, i spent my time evaluating only 1 source which is http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/wp/2005/wp0560.pdf.
This is a report on my topic, The impact of terrorism on world economy. This source is actually from a website, www.imf.org. This is an organizational website. The organization resposible for this website is the International Monetary Fund.
After evaluating this website, i have realised that this website is easly accessible and i can navigate around the website easily. There are no log-ins required and all information is granted for free. The website is smple therefore i can navigate around the site without much difficulty. This website has a purpose which is to work to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty. The information provided in this website is highly comprehensive. Graphs and other data is presentated as evidence to support the report. The information provided is also accurate as no biasness can be detected and references are stated clearly. Overall, i feel that the webaite i have evaluated is very useful and efficient.

Reflections on comparison and evaluation on search effectiveness

The first different characteristic is that all 3 search facilities have different number of hits eventhough the same keywords were used. The search engine(www.google.com) has 1,410,000 hits. The meta search engine (www.ixquick.com) has 3,169,646 hits. The subject directory(www.yahoo.com) has 3,650,000 hits.

The second different characteristic would be that only the meta search engine provides ranking of websites. No ranking of websites observed in the search engine(www.google.com) and the subject directory(www.yahoo.com).

I find strength in the meta search engine(www.ixquick.com) as the websites
are most related and very efficient due to ranking provided.

I would rank the search facilities in order of,
Meta search engine > Search Engine > Subject directory
The search engine provides relevant websites although the search engine(www.google.com) does not have a high number of hits. But the weakness of the search engine is that there is no ranking provided. Lastly, I find the subject directory(www.yahoo.com) not very efficient as although there is a high number of hits, not many relevant websites are provided. And also, there is no ranking provided. Thus, I have to waste time opening up all websites.

The Meta search facility is the best overall. This is because the meta search
Engine provides the most relevant websites. There is even ranking provided. This way I would not need to waste excessive time opening up other irrelevant and non-useful websites.

My research topic has a lot of co-relation to the purposes of the resources
Retrieved. Most of the websites retrieved have the same mixture of purposes which is information and news. These are the purposes which are essential for my research topic. A lot of the websites retrieved provide useful and sufficient information on my research topic. Therefore, my research topic has a lot of co relation to the purposes of the websites retrieved.

Searching for this 4 new websites on the related topic was not so bad after all as the topic was a pretty big issue. So websites can be searched easliy. The purposes help me understand the websites better. This helps me classify the websites. Most of the websites found are News and information related. This helps a reader understand things better when searching for information on the internet rather than in the newspapers or books or even magazines.

Discussion forums are sites where people go to discuss and express what they feel about this issue in a means of chatting.
